Is it Retirement or Another Career?

Think about it.  You worked for 35 – 40 years and during that time you planned what you were going to do for a career.  You educated yourself, got the experience you needed to do the job, and hopefully made the moves in your career that you wanted.

Now you are going to retire and potentially have 25 years ahead of you. As with your career, there is some planning to do for retirement.  Have you worked out the financial plan? This is the first step with a financial advisor.  Do you have to supplement your pension by doing some part-time work?  If so, do you know what you want to do?  What do your days look like?  Have you planned beyond the trip to Italy?  What do you and your spouse/partner do now for recreation?  You potentially now have 2500 hours more time per year with your spouse/partner.  Does that excite or frighten you?  Would you like to understand your spouse/partner more and avoid potential relationship difficulties during this new phase of your life together?  For some, this time of life can create stresses and complications that will interfere with the enjoyment of retirement.
