Toilet Paper…which way?

Which way do you put a new roll on the holder? I have always put the new roll on so that it rolls towards me off the top of the roll…always.  If I find it has been done otherwise, I will change it.  That is …… up to now.  There is one holder in our house that is frustrating because we buy those oversize Costco rolls and the roll jams when you try to tear some off leaving you with a single sheet.  The other morning the new roll had been put on ‘the other way’!  Lo and behold, it didn’t jam!

How many times have some of us missed opportunities in life because we do things consistently the same old way. For some of us, our personality preferences influence this.  I am a clear ‘J’ in most facets of my Myers-Briggs® personality type and generally do not like change, at least not without good reason.  ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it’.  In the case of the toilet paper on that particular holder it had been ‘broke’ for a long time but I failed to see the simple alternative until it was presented to me.

Personality type and preference does not define who you are, they merely show how you might initially approach life. Next time you are frustrated by a problem think of the toilet paper and try looking at it differently.

Live a little…..put the roll on the other way!
