I had the opportunity this Family Day weekend to reconnect with some of my cousins and their families in a musical setting overlooking the amazing lights of Nanaimo at night. The occasion was a concert by a cousin’s daughter who is a gifted blues/folk singer songwriter.
It was a beautiful evening reminiscing and enjoying the music but made me realize that through the busyness of our lives we sometimes lose the connection to our past. Family is how we got to where we are. It provided the lessons that shaped our values and ethics, the ones we pass on to the next generation. We need to keep the connection open and alive!
Hopefully you made a connection, however small, and spent time just enjoying the ‘music’ of those you consider ‘family’.
Happy Family Day!
