We Are All Self-Employed.

They don’t offer me any training. I’m falling behind in my industry knowledge.  I wish I could earn more money but they won’t give me a raise.  These hours suck!

Sound familiar? Doing employment counselling, I hear it often.  The reality is, the only one holding us back from advancing is ourselves.  We choose where we want to work.  We choose the training and career we want.  Our employer may not subsidize or pay for the training but it is available to us if we have the initiative to get it.

Successful people don’t wait for the training to come to them, they source it out themselves. They take the initiative to set the goal, find the training, and choose where to apply it.

We hold the reins on our career and employment. Times have changed.  They are very few 25 – 30 year jobs.  The average person will have 5 – 7 different careers in their lifetime.  Taking control of your life-long learning is more important than ever, for in the end, we are all self-employed.
