Many of us grew up with toy compasses that came out of Cracker Jack boxes, graduating later on to the Boy Scout variety. Before the advent of GPS we relied on the sun, stars and the magnetic poles of the earth to find our way when travelling or exploring.
There is another compass that we rely on. It is the guidance offered us by education, parents, peers, our mentors, our life experience, forming our moral compass. Sometimes there are attractions that pull us off course, we falter, perhaps make mistakes, but our moral compass will be tasked to bring us back to the correct path.
Who or what forms the core of your moral compass? Influenced by personality type and life environment it develops as we age. Through observation and experience we forge a path of consistency based on our values and ethics that become our compass.
Think back to those who guided you in this journey, the events that brought change or affirmation to the way you lead your life. You will find your compass there.
