Vive La Différence

What is your unique business position?

When working at employment centres there were many clients who were tired of searching for non-existent jobs in the community and thought they would try their hand at self-employment.

A good number of these people chose to pursue a business doing lawn care and gardening.  Unfortunately most only chose it because they had a truck, rake and lawnmower, and very little money.  They had nothing that set them apart from the others who were vying for the same customers.

One of my clients was determined and set out to challenge even the well established in the business.  He researched what was missing in the services offered by others.  Yes, he could do your lawns and garden to perfection, but with each invoice was not only a thank you for allowing him to serve them, there were household and yard care tips on a newsletter.  In addition he did windows and gutters to take his work into the fall and offered snowblower services in the event of a winter surprise.  He was unique and succeeded where others fell by the wayside.

What are you doing differently from your competition? Do you have unique products, exceptional customer service, offer packages of complementary goods, pricing specials, or have a unique identity in the marketplace.  What will make your customers or clients seek you out again?

To compete in today’s changing marketplace you need something that sets you apart.
