Fall is a Busy Time for All

The warmth of summer has faded to the crisp days of autumn with its colourful landscapes and harvest produce.  The schools are back in and parents are settled into a routine.  Children have begun their extracurricular activities pulling their parents here and there and entertaining them with new found notes on the band instruments.

We seem to go from one holiday or celebration to another.  First Thanksgiving in October with its bountiful meals and Halloween with pumpkins, kids and costumes, then Remembrance Day honouring those who gave their lives so that we could live with the freedom we enjoy in Canada.  Of course, one can’t forget Christmas.  How could we when stores put out the gifts and décor items immediately following Thanksgiving!

Businesses also go through a metamorphosis this time of year.  Those whose main focus was the tourist trade will be winding down if they served those who came for the summer activities.  Those who focus on the ski and storm-watching enthusiasts will be ramping up for their season.  Still others who cater to the holiday season will be stocking their shelves as some have Christmas items on their shelves already and a few have decorated!

No matter whether at home, school, or in business, there is an ebb and flow to the seasons.  In the home, it is more coping with the preparation of the living environment and making sure that we are ready for the rain or, heaven forbid, snow and that there is an adequate supply of adequate clothing to meet the needs.  In business, timing can be crucial so that you are prepared for your customers or clients when they require your products or services. Order too early and you are carrying inventory, order too late and you will miss the market and, also carry inventory.

Fall is a busy time for all.  While I have only mentioned Christmas, there are many other religious holidays and observances celebrated by others.  Step back and enjoy the Fall season, take the time to enjoy family and the activities that are available to you.
